Extracurricular Teacher (Per Diem)

POSITION:     EXTRACURRICULAR TEACHER (Per Diem)

RESPONSIBLE TO:  LMCC Director/Chief Operating Officer

COMMITMENT (HOURS):  3 – 5 hours/week (Saturday)

STATUS: Non-Exempt (3 months orientation period)

JOB SUMMARY: The Extracurricular Teacher is responsible for planning and teaching Mandarin classes to the students in the classroom environment and to provide adequate supervision in all activities.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare the curriculum and teaching Mandarin to the students.
  • Evaluate skill levels of the students and help them develop in a group setting.
  • Supervise students in all activities, maintaining their safety and well-being.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, healthy and attractive physical environment with the teaching staff.
  • Plan and develop center curriculum in collaboration with other teachers.
  • Provide assistance to other teaching staff.
  • Report accidents, thefts, child abuse, and other unusual occurrences immediately.
  • Perform other appropriate tasks deemed necessary by the supervisor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Work experience in community based health care service capacity.
  • English language proficiency.
  • Valid California driver’s license.

PREFERRED/DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School graduated.
  • Experience on teaching classes.

ADA REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Ability to speak, see and hear clearly.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, written and oral.
  • Lifting of at least 20 lbs.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended period.

SALARY RANGE: $38k-$45k, depends on experience.
